Vitrified CBN Wheels for Hardened Steel

Product Information

What we grind

Vitrified wheels grind hardened steel on production machines — crankshafts, camshafts, bearing rings, gears, and similar wet OD or face work. The bond is porous and dressable, so a CBN grinding wheel holds form through a shift instead of loading like resin.

Workpiece Common operations
Crankshafts and camshaftsOD, pin, lobe
Bearing rings and rollersOD, ID, race, face
Gears and shaftsOD, face, form

Typical machines: Studer, Junker, Landis, Toyoda, and equivalent CNC cylindrical or production grinders. Coolant is normal.

OD or face

Cylindrical grinding and face grinding use different wheels.

OD and cylindrical

Start with 1A1. A vitrified CBN wheel on the periphery takes the OD of a shaft, ring, or pin. Send diameter, hole, and width. We match the wheel to the spindle and dresser.

Faces

6A2 when the machine takes a cup on the face of a ring, gear, or plate.

Shapes

Shape Drawing Role on hardened steel
1A1 1A1 wheel drawing Peripheral OD and cylindrical grinding of hardened steel
6A2 6A2 wheel drawing Cup grinding on faces of rings, gears, and plates

Also available: 3A1. Send the current wheel stamp — we match it.

Send a mark such as 1A1-400-20-127 CBN 126 plus steel grade and wet/dry. We match diameter, thickness, hole, grit, and concentration.
